After 38 years in retailing with Macy’s in St. Louis, Jim retired in 2007. In 2010, his wife Carol joined Belk and they moved to Charlotte. After settling in, Jim read an article about a man who had fostered over 60 Golden Retrievers. Jim and his wife Carol had two golden rescues in their home and were intrigued. Jim called th man who had fostered so many Goldens — Gene Fitzpatrick and they had coffee and got to know one another.

Before he knew it, Jim joined the board. As Jim states “I’m lucky that I get to now work with a great group of folks helping Golden Retrievers in need. We (GRRCC) are always looking for new members, who share our love of golden retrievers and want to assist us in our mission.”
