Once again, the Golden Retriever Rescue Club of Charlotte (GRRCC) hosted its Annual Meeting in the Education Center of the Humane Society of Charlotte’s Animal Resource Center. GRRCC would like to thank those who took time out of their Sunday afternoon to attend the Annual Meeting and spend some extra time to take a tour of the Animal Resource Center. It was wonderful to see some familiar faces and to have the opportunity to meet those who some of us only knew by name.
It was also a pleasure to have GRRCC alum and Humane Society of Charlotte Canine Ambassador, Jake Levin attend the Annual Meeting. Jake’s story of how he is paying his good fortune forward as a therapy dog, as shared by Ross Levin who adopted Jake in March 2023, was definitely a highlight of the Annual Meeting. Having already achieved the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Therapy Dog Novice (THDN) titles, it’s very impressive that in less than a year, Jake has logged 100 hours of therapy work at elder care facilities, hospitals, schools and businesses. GRRCC is so proud of Jake’s accomplishments!
GRRCC is grateful to everyone who supports it whether through volunteering, fostering, adopting, financial gifts or a combination of such. As presented during the Annual Meeting, 2023 was a busy year for GRRCC with rescuing and caring for 50 Golden Retrievers, approximately twice as many as in the past two years. GRRCC is fortunate to be able to do what it does to help all these rescues. Such was emphasized during the Annual Meeting along with the continued need for others to help with and/or join GRRCC’s operational committee’s which include the Intake, Adoption and Medical Committees.
With the Annual Meeting being GRRCC’s first event of 2024, GRRCC already has several events planned or in the works for the remainder of the year, including Dog Days of Winter Festival (held Saturday, February 17), Brewsology and Beer Fest (Saturday, February 24), St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Saturday, March 16), Lilly Pultizer Shop and Share spring event (Saturday, April 13), Dunk Your Dog Day (May/June timeframe) and Bank of America Adoption Awareness events (spring/fall). Each event offers a great opportunity to volunteer and/or spend time with others who share GRRCC’s passion for rescuing and love of Golden Retrievers.
Whether you attended in person or are taking time to visit GRRCC’s website to read the Annual Meeting summary, GRRCC greatly appreciates your support and interest and hopes to see you at one or more of its upcoming events!
