Luke – Adopted 8/2024

Luke escaped his chains and ran to his new family!

Luke is a male 5 month old golden retriever who came to GRRCC as a stray.  Luke was found with an embedded rope in his neck and has gone through medical care and has recovered tremendously!  He is up to date on all shots / heartworm and is scheduled to be neutered on March 28th, 2025.

Luke has been raised with his foster and 4 other dogs.  The dogs have done an amazing job to teach him boundaries, how to play and how to “dog”.  He has also been around cats and is still a little curious, but never aggressive.  He is a mature puppy who is doing well with potty training and knows how to sit, but still has the typical puppy behaviors of a 5 month old.

If he is adopted by a family without another dog, the family will need to be able to engage with him often to manage his puppy energy.  Although he has not been around young children, he will do very well with kids that are old enough to redirect him to toys as needed.  He has not been crate trained with only a couple of areas blocked off, but if he will be crated trained is in his future home, I believe he will learn to do it with patience.

Luke is very much a people dog and will follow you everywhere and loves to snuggle, especially in bed. He is a very happy dog who will over anyone he meets with his sweet face and amazing personality.
