Ruby, we think, spent the better part of the winter as a stray. When she was found, her fur was straw-like and matted, full of fleas, Heartworm positive and more than 10 lbs underweight. Since then, she has blossomed into a sweet little girl, who loves toys, a good meal, long walks (she likes to mark everything on a walk!), and naps on a sofa. Her fur has become soft and feathery. She’s working on trust issues and can be a bit of a door darter. (She’ll also cruise your fence in search of an escape route!) She’s loving and funny – after she eats she likes to frolic and burrow. She also loves to toss her toys in the air and go after them.
Ruby may be happiest as an only dog. We have not seen her around children – but suspect she’d do best in a home with adults or teenage children. She has got a sweet soul and just needs someone to love her forever.
Ruby is currently undergoing Heartworm Treatment in her foster home and will be available for adoption sometime in May.
Ruby’s Forever Home Requirements:
- A fenced yard
- Someone home most of the day
- Ruby gets along fine with other dogs, but would do best as the only dog in the home
