proper care, exercise and training for the foster dog.
-
Abide by the terms of the GRRCC
foster contract.
-
Have a fenced-in yard large enough to safely exercise

no one is home regardless of the type of fencing or shelter provided.
-
Have all current pets spayed or neutered unless there
a medical or age related reason why surgery cannot be performed or has
yet to be performed.
To satisfy GRRCC’s requirement the fence must:

Be constructed of wood (stockade, picket), metal
(iron, chain link), PVC, or wooden/metal posts with heavy gauge wire
-
Be a minimum height of 4 feet; 5 feet or higher is

preferred
To satisfy GRRCC’s requirement, an "invisible,
electronic or hidden" fence system must:
-
Be manufactured and installed professionally
-
Provide professional training and support for the dog
and owner
-
The fence cannot abut a busy street
EXEMPTIONS
If you cannot meet any one of the foregoing eligibility requirements,
then in most cases, we cannot proceed with your application. However, we
recognize that there may be exceptional applicants whose circumstances
do not fit within our guidelines. Therefore, an experienced dog owner
may request an exemption to any GRRCC eligibility requirement. An
exemption request must include a detailed letter describing your
circumstances, lifestyle, previous dog ownership and how you plan on
safely exercising and managing a Golden Retriever. Without a letter,
your exemption request will not be considered. Exemption requests from
first time dog owners will not be considered. If your request is
accepted, a letter of recommendation from your veterinarian regarding
the care and well being of your previously owned dog(s) will be required
and your application will be forwarded to a Home Visit Coordinator to
schedule a home visit interview.
IMPORTANT : GRRCC
uses the same application for adoption and fostering. Please indicate on
your application that you wish to foster a dog for GRRCC.
